Architects design next-gen two-flats, row houses and bungalows
Asked to design the next generation of Chicago home types, reasonably priced and good-looking like the bungalows, two-flats and rowhouses of yore, the city’s architects delivered.
Dirk Denison Architects designed a contemporary successor to the venerable Chicago two-flat. While its brick weave balconies depart from the classic look, the building contains the same possibilities as its ancestor: its owners can live in one apart and generate rental income with the other or occupy the whole thing.
